Putting you at the centre
To truly thrive, you need to be in control of your choices. Our capacity building services are designed with you in mind – to build your skills, confidence and genuine connections.
We offer two approaches to capacity building:
One through Valued Lives, where we help you plan for the future and strengthen your networks with personalised services that meet your unique needs.
The other is through Empowered Connections, an initiative created by and for people with lived experience of disability. It focuses on resources, mentoring and community leadership to foster a supportive environment.
Everything we do is guided by an evidence-based model that puts the person at the centre and drives real, lasting change.
Shaping tomorrow
Planning for the future helps us to navigate the big changes in life by providing a roadmap and clear steps to follow.
Creating a Personal Futures Plan can be a way to make sure your loved one gets the support they need to live a fulfilling life, both now and in the years to come.
Our workshops, guided by a skilled facilitator, are designed to help you navigate this important journey. In these workshops, individuals with disability, together with family, friends and trusted allies, explore their preferences and vision for the future.
The full-day workshops are held in small groups with several families providing a chance to reflect and share as you plan. If you prefer a more individual approach, one-on-one workshops are also available.
Over a few sessions, a personalised plan is developed, capturing what matters most and taking a long-term view across all areas of life, giving clarity and helping everyone feel more prepared for the future.

Your Network Your Way
Your Network Your Way focuses on creating a strong network around a person with disability, made up of people who know and care about them. It could include family, friends, neighbours or community members who come together to listen, encourage and walk alongside the person as they work towards their goals.
This trusted network can help with things like finding a job, moving into a home of their own, or simply being there to share ideas and celebrate progress. Every network is unique, shaped by the individual’s hopes and strengths.

Valued Lives has transformed my son Jack’s perspective on his business ideas. Valued Lives not only made it very simple for Jack to grasp but also went the extra mile by creating a website from the ground up, which will be paramount for his microenterprise. I cannot thank Valued Lives enough for their support in helping my son.

Capacity building resources
We create resources to support families and individuals to live full and meaningful lives.
These capacity building resources are part of Empowered Connections, our initiative developed by and for people with lived experience of disability.
You’ll find practical guides and tools, connect with mentors and meet others who can help you develop capacity in all areas of life. Our projects can help you with finding work, creating a home of your own, and starting a microenterprise.
The NACBO model
Empowered Connections is part of the National Alliance of Capacity Building Organisations (NACBO)
As a proud member of the National Alliance of Capacity Building Organisations (NACBO), we share a vision that all people with a disability are valued citizens with the right to contribute to society.
