Home is our haven, it’s where we relax and wind down at the end of the day, where we feel safe, comfortable and where we can truly be ourselves, living life the way we choose.
To enable you to live your life the way you choose, the NDIS provides Individualised Living Options (ILO) funding, which helps you use your funded supports to live the way that suits you, however, it does not fund the actual bricks and mortar you live in.
After a long wait, the NDIA this week released their new Individualised Living Options Guidelines, which has created the perfect segue for Valued Lives to share the good news that our new peer-led Individualised Living Options (ILO’s) project team, funded through an ILC grant, is now up and running!
We are working alongside our national partners at NACBO on the ‘My Home My Way’ project, which is aimed at deepening the knowledge of people with a disability, as well as their families and/or supporters, about Individualised Living Options; providing personalised advice, vision building, along with information to facilitate individuals in the creation of their own plan to live in their own home.
The new guidelines are chock full of information and worth studying if you are thinking about planning for an Individualised Living Option for yourself or your family member. You can read them here: Individualised Living Options OG PDF
Chloe Grant, our My Home My Way Project Officer, along with the ILO team, are available to answer your Individualised Living Options questions. They can be contacted via email at firstname.lastname@example.org, or alternatively, give them a call on 1800 844 933. You are also invited to join The Home Stretch Individual Living Options Under the NDIS Facebook Group, This group will be a great resource for information and peer connection moving forward.
