Bronia Holyoak – Founder of Valued Lives graduated as a fellow of the School of Social Entrepreneurs after completing the 4-month Accelerator Program in June 2014.
“The course was an exciting opportunity to work alongside an amazing group of exceptional individuals from all over Western Australia, tackling social issues within their social enterprises.
At the beginning of the course we “pitched” to a group of experts who committed to supporting students on the course. Valued Lives was very fortunate to receive mentoring from Scott Bywaters; Director at Baxter Lawley. Scott has an accounting and finance background with extensive experience in strategy, planning and financial modeling. Very generous of his time and knowledge, Scott shared many useful resources that we can use in the future.
I really enjoyed the practical peer to peer learning style and definitely have gained strong technical knowledge and skills to develop our social enterprise. We will be committed to measuring the social impact of Valued Lives’ work as we move from start-up to a period of growth and development. We want to make sure that the work we do alongside people, results in people having better lives. It’s easy to say what we are going to do but we want to build a strong evidence base that proves we are actually doing it.
Our thanks go to Sofiah Mackay, a brilliant facilitator and Katie Stubley, a super smart networker for making our learning journey one to remember.
